We propose this project for a site in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park- a collection of buildings and park space over three sites that house residential units, a business complex & outdoor civic space, community resources and public recreation. This project began as an RFP response, and turned into an investigation of combining civic building typologies. Our concept: Building on our thoughts from the Community Center project, we have added two more essential architectural building types on the surrounding adjacent sites. We have added a residential gardens that offers private units for residents and a public park for pedestrians. Also included is a business / office center on a public plaza. Like the CC project, these buildings seek to combine program types in such a way that brings about new potential, new intersections between people and activities.
