Compound Yellow is a collection of indoor and outdoor art & gathering spaces located at a unique intersection of public and private space in Oak Park, IL. Sitting on the corner of the high-traffic Lake Street and the residential Harvey Street, this site is at the convergence point of a residential neighborhood lane and a busy commercial street. The site draws a diverse mix of people from the neighborhood residences, nearby retirement community, local parks, and local commerce. The prevailing themes emerged while researching this project are visual + physical site access, the CY socially-based mission, and real + implied boundaries.
